Italy, the cradle of European civilization

Bell’Italia!

Seat of the Roman Empire, leading light of the Renaissance and eternal advocate of la Bella Vita, Italy is renowned for its art, architecture, style and passion. Italy is one of Europe’s most visited countries, and the opportunities for holiday hare are endless, from tasting balsamic vinegar in a traditional acetaia in Modena to sampling local wine in Tuscany’s vineyards and admiring lesser-known Renaissance art in Florence, from hiking in the Dolomites to truffle hunting with an expert and his dog in Tuscany’s hillsides, from yoga classes in Lake Garda to cooking classes in Bologna.

As you explore Italy, you’ll stand face-to-face with some of the world’s most iconic images from this 2,000-year history: Rome’s ancient Colosseum and playful Trevi Fountain, Pisa’s Leaning Tower, Florence’s Renaissance masterpieces (Michelangelo’s David and Botticelli’s Venus), and the island city of elegant decay — Venice.

Italy is a country composed of 20 remarkable regions, each of which has its own distinctive characteristics, landscape, traditions, culture and local cuisine.

Strolling around picturesque, wine-soaked villages of Tuscany, including mellow Montepulciano, Renaissance Pienza, and Brunello-fueled Montalcino. Exploring two charming lakes, each with low-key resort towns and a mountainous backdrop: Lake Como, with quaint Varenna and upscale Bellagio; and Lake Garda, with warm Limone sul Garda and stunning Sirmione.

Whether you explore great cities, alpine lakes, or Tuscan countryside, our specialists can help you unlock the hidden secrets, and create the perfect holiday to Italy.

What to do in Bologna & Emilia-Romagna

Bologna, “grassa e dotta”, fat and learned, is famed as a foodie’s paradise. Local wine tastings, walking food tours in a small group or just with your private party could give you a great insight of the city. As well as wandering around authentic narrow streets of the city center of Bologna, visiting a food market or even taking part in a cooking class, where you could learn how to make fresh pasta.

Emilia-Romagna is famous for its Food Valley, named so because of the culinary specialities that have led to Italy’s worldwide fame: Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Parma ham, traditional balsamic vinegar from Modena and Reggio Emilia, Culatello salami, and of course tagliatelle and tortellini.

Another excellence of Emilia-Romagna is its Motor Valler, the place where Ferrari, Ducati, Pagani, Lamborghini e Maserati were born. Discover our best bespoke itineraries and ride extraordinary experiences on Emilia-Romagna’s world-famous circuits.

What to do in Verona & Valpolicella

Verona is often called the most romantic city in Italy. But it’s not just because of Romeo e Juliet. Love is everywhere in Verona: the historic centre, as well as the Torricelle, the gentle hills that embrace the city, and the provincial areas, that offer unique and characteristic views, ideal for a romantic weekend in which to let yourself be conquered by the local beauty.

Just a few kilometres from Verona a beautiful hill area named Valpolicella is situated. It ranks just after Chianti region in total Italian Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) wine production. And it is world-famous for its red wines, in particular for the symbolic wine of this territory: Amarone.

Discover the area with our tailor-made itineraries through family-run wineries or wineries famous all over the world. Wineries that have a centuries-old or more recent tradition, small cellars in farmhouses or majestic villas that take your breath away. Together with a very picturesque scenery of the rolling hillsides, covered in precious vines, punctuated only by stately villas and charming medieval towns.

What to do on Lake Garda

The largest of the northern Italian lakes, which since the ancient times has been attracting guests with its unique Mediterranean climate and clean, crisp air, with the Medieval castles and Scaliger fortresses, and with a collection of world-renowned wines.

The Trentino shore of Lake Garda is a suitable area for growing grapes, not only due to the variety of soils and the mild microclimate, but also because of the beneficial influence of some of local air currents. In 2021 one of the most prestigious wine magazines in the world has nominated the province of Trentino for the Annual Wine Star Awards in the Wine Region of the Year 2020 category.

Geographically, Lake Garda connects three regions of Italy: Lombardia, Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige. From here, it is easy to reach the cities of Brescia, Verona, Mantua, in an hour you can reach Vicenza and Padua, and just a couple of hours away are Venice and Milan.

What to do in The Dolomites

The Dolomites are a mountain range located in north-eastern Italy, a grandiose creation of nature, which cannot be conveyed in words. The Dolomites offer up a magnificent panorama: mountains constructed with walls of rock, ice caps, karst systems, unbelievably high spires, towers and pinnacles – mountains moulded and shaped by the elements, and where the cultures of Italy, Germany and the native Ladin community all meet and intertwine.

But it’s not just the nature, skiing, climbing, cycling, admiring picturesque lakes, but also high quality products, traditional food and wine. The area is famous for a selection of excellent sparkling wines, including the famous Brut Trento DOC, as well as for the production of the most typical Italian distillate: Grappa.

Wine and flavour bespoke itineraries to be travelled along lakes, through vineyards and up and down the Dolomites, and vacation ideas made of authentic experience.
